Talamantes is the candidate with the most school employees association support in the race for Sacramento County Board of Education, Area 2
SACRAMENTO, CA—Today, Karina Talamantes, candidate for the Sacramento County Board of Education Area 2, announced the endorsement of a major education association, the California School Employees Association (CSEA).
“CSEA endorses Karina Talamantes for Sacramento County Board of Education Area 2 because we believe she will do the best job for our students and members,” said Shenita Howard, President of CSEA Chapter 480. “As as former classified employee, she understands the work necessary to ensure the safety and care of our students at school.”
The CSEA represents more than 230,000 classified employees in California public schools and community colleges. Classified employees include: security, food services, office and technical, school maintenance and operations, transportation, academic assistance and para-educator services, library and media assistance. According to data from the California Department of Education, Sacramento and Placer County have over 9,000 and 1,000 classified employees, respectively.
“From transporting and feeding students to teaching them vital skills and ensuring that schools are operating smoothly, every aspect of our student’s educational experience is impacted by a classified school employee,” said Talamantes. “As a former member of CSEA, I am thrilled to have their support.”
In endorsing Talamantes, CSEA joins the California Teachers Association, making Talamantes the candidate with the most school employees association support in the race for Sacramento County Board of Education, Area 2.
