Old Sacramento Waterfront lights up the holiday tree

(FOX40.COM) — In front of a packed crowd, the holiday tree at the Old Sacramento Waterfront was lit up for the first time this year on Wednesday. FOX40 was the media sponsor of the holiday tree lighting.

The ceremony took place on K Street and was hosted by FOX40 News anchors Nikki Laurenzo and Eric Harryman.

Slamson, the mascot for the Sacramento Kings, along with Kings’ emcee Scott Freshour made an appearance.

Before the official lighting, the tree was lit in purple, which will be a normal occurrence on game nights for the Kings.

The first Theatre of Lights show and live performance followed the tree lighting. The Theatre of Lights is a live production of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with performers on several rooftops of buildings along K Street.

The Theatre of Lights will continue on Thursdays through Sundays at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. through the end of the year.
